"Lift Me Up" is a song by Darren Hayes and Rick Nowels. It appears as a duo[1] in Olivia Newton-John's album (2) released in 2002. The album went platinum in Australia.
Hayes (of Savage Garden) wrote this originally for his own album Spin but it didn't make the cut for release.
Hayes however had promised to write a song for fellow Australian Olivia Newton-John. The chance came a second time for "Lift Me Up" with an album of duets Newton-John was planning on releasing with duo collaborations with various artists. "Lift Me Up" became a duet with Hayes and appearing as track number 2 on the Olivia Newton-John album (2).
A solo version of the song was also recorded by Darren Hayes himself,[2] but never appeared in any of Darren Hayes' albums.
The Backstreet Boys recorded a very popular version of "Lift Me Up" that appeared as a bonus track in some limited issues of their album Never Gone but was never endorsed as an official track and was removed from all official releases later, although their version remains a big fan favorite.[3]
